Diamond Jubilee

It's coming up to the Bank holiday weekend when the Queen celebrates 60 years on the throne, only the second monarch in history to have achieved this.  Again whether you think she should be there or not, this is another chance to bring people together to celebrate.

Part of the celebrations involve a Regatta along the Thames and a new boat has been designed for the Queen to travel in, the Spirit of Chartwell.  What led me to this post though was the beautiful pictures of the banner which will adorn the boat - made from gold buttons and needing a forklift to lift it.  Designed and made by the artist and sculptor, Ann Carrington, it is the most lovely thing.
